“Justice is the cornerstone of our legal system, just as compassion is the cornerstone of our relationships with our clients.”

What Sarah Varney loves most about Walters Bender Strohbehn & Vaughan, P.C. is that it is filled with supportive and inspiring people who are united by the same passions, yet value individuality. Sarah brings a unique set of skills to the firm.

Originally from Sacramento, California, Sarah received a bachelor’s degree from Scripps College in Foreign Languages and a master’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Translation and Interpreting. Her work as a freelance legal translator led her to pursue a paralegal certificate and an advanced paralegal certificate, and eventually a career in the legal field. Prior to joining WBSV, Sarah worked as a legal assistant at an insurance defense firm in Champaign, Illinois.

As a legal assistant to Thomas Bender and Dirk Hubbard, Sarah primarily works on class actions and multidistrict litigation, always taking the extra step to ensure that her attorneys’ needs are met throughout the litigation process. Her keen eye for detail and her exceptional organizational skills help her to perform extensive legal research and keep complicated cases running smoothly. Her knowledge of French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian allows to her to communicate effectively with an array of people from diverse backgrounds.

In her spare time, Sarah enjoys literature, crossword puzzles, and cheering on the Kansas City Royals. She is also a published translator of several novels.
