Michael D. Strohbehn has been a trial lawyer handling complex litigation in the state and federal courts of the Midwest for 32 years. He has tried jury cases in Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, New York and Nevada. He has handled a wide spectrum of cases including, medical and professional malpractice, aviation accidents, sexual abuse, motor vehicle and truck accidents, contract and commercial law. He has tried and negotiated settlements in hundreds of civil cases. Mr. Strohbehn practiced in a large Kansas City law firm, as head of Kansas litigation before becoming a founding member of Walters Bender Strohbehn & Vaughan in 1991.
Mr. Strohbehn was born in Marengo, Iowa and grew up in Cedar Falls, Iowa. He studied History and received a teaching degree from The University of Northern Iowa. At the University of Northern Iowa he was awarded the prestigious Purple and Old Gold Award as the outstanding graduate in his major in 1972. He attended graduate school at The University of Kansas before earning his Juris Doctorate, with honors, from Washburn University in 1978. He was a member of the Board of Editors of the Washburn University Law Journal from 1976-1978.
Mr. Strohbehn served as the Malpractice/ Professional Liability Screening Panel Chairman appointed by the judges of the Tenth Judicial District Court of Kansas, in Johnson County, Kansas from 1993 – 2004. He was appointed Judge Pro Tem in the Tenth Judicial District Court in Johnson County and served during 1996-1999.
